A report released by the UN Office for Humanitarian Affairs on April 19 stated that the number of cancer cases in Iraq has increased dramatically over the past five years. Twenty-five years of contamination from war has led to a large increase in cancer cases. In the past three years, the numbers in Iraq have jumped from about 4,000 to more than 9,000 cases per year, with about 52% being in children under 5 years of age. There are at least 400 sites of hazardous chemical materials and depleted uranium near Iraqi communities.

Dr. Bertell and IICPH have been documenting and providing information on the hazards of DU and involved with helping Gulf War Veterans looking for information, proper health care and compensation for years. Our new DVD, “Poison DUst” features Dr. Bertell and is a splendid tool for educating the general public. We will soon be able to obtain reasonably priced copies for those interested. Check our website, www.iicph.org for future information. For Canada’s role in the DU story check the url below.
