Willi Nolan and the Megaporcherie
by Marion Odell ( info@iicph.org ) Willi Nolan, our volunteer project coordinator has spent approximately 1,224 hours this year working with the citizen’s group PODIUM of Ste Marie de Kent in New Brunswick They are concerned about the health effects of a large factory pig farm on the Bouctouche River watershed. In our opinion, and that of many others, nationally and internationally, the introduction of factory farms are posing very big risks to human and animal health. Waterways farmland, groundwater and air are polluted. Fish, birds and other wildlife are affected. PODIUM has been trying to get both the New Brunswick and federal governments to do health studies, so far to no avail. Links have been made to other organizations who are concerned about this issue. These include the Council of Canadians Beyond Factory Farming Coalition and the Sierra Club. We salute Willi and PODIUM for their tremendous efforts this year!
