  5. “LE MEGA-PORCHERIE” PROJECT: Former IICPH Project Manager, Willi Nolan, is now affiliated with the Association for the Preservation of the Bouctouche Watershed (APBW) in New Brunswick. The APBW are interested in undertaking a Health 2000 epidemiological study, as it appears that there are clusters of illnesses among residents in the vicinity of the pig farm. They have been collecting anecdotal evidence and have the support of some concerned local doctors. There has been approval in principle to a joint APBW-IICPH project and IICPH is awaiting their submission.
  6. Roger Dixon P. Eng., an expert in the field of industrial hygiene and a former volunteer IICPH Project Partner, has recently arrived in Guatemala. There he will initiate a training and occupational health and safety education program for Guatemalan labour organizations. Roger’s has expressed concern for the iniquities of ‘sweatshops’ and the abuse of women and children in the manufacturing industries. We wish him well as he embarks on his new venture.
